Who We Are

Plant Blueprint is an independent, research-based guide to indoor plant care. We cover houseplants, propagation, light, soil and semi-hydro setups, pests, and plant safety for homes with pets, written for people growing in apartments and small spaces.

Every guide is built from published sources such as university extension programs, botanical gardens, and the ASPCA's toxic and non-toxic plant database. We compare what they say, explain it in plain language, and link to every source so you can check it yourself.

Founder & Editor

Mark Tavis

Mark Tavis is the pen name of Plant Blueprint's founder and editor, a plant enthusiast who spends the hours reading extension bulletins and botanical research so you don't have to.

Mark is not a professional horticulturist. The work here is research and editing: finding reliable sources, comparing them, pointing out where they disagree, and turning them into clear steps for The Lab, The Infirmary, The Pantry, and Symbolism.

How We Create Content

Drafts are prepared with AI assistance. Before anything is published, a person checks every fact, number, and toxicity claim against its source and edits the article for clarity. We never publish invented test results or experiences.

We update guides when better information appears, and the "last updated" date on each article reflects real changes. If you spot an error, please tell us through our contact page and we will correct it.
